MOST RECKLESS IN THE ROOM

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky (Not taking risks or pursuing opportunities can lead to regret)"
It was a late night at Sefa's. We sat down with our sweating glasses and bottles of beer, drinking away our troubles. But jokes on us, the alcohol wasn't going to solve anything, for we were men with perpetual scars from our blunders, engraved on our hearts.
The distant commentary of a football match from the living room was the only sound that could be heard until Yaw broke the silence.
"If I'm not the most reckless person in this room, then who is?" Yaw asked.
The rest of us chimed in, "Spit, brother, spit!"
Yaw continued, "They say you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. It's true. Because if you do, you might as well put your goals in a casket. Stubborn as I am, I did just that. I chased two rabbits, carrying a basket full of eggs, and guess what? I caught none. Instead, I tripped and hurt my knee, and the eggs...well you know.
If I'm not the most reckless person in this room, then who is?"
Kwame spoke up next, "I am."
The rest of us chimed in again, "Spit, brother, spit!"
Kwame said, "They say opportunity knocks once, but it knocked a thousand times for me, and I didn't answer the door. I could have killed two birds with one stone, but I let the chance slip through my fingers like sand in an hourglass. Now, I'm left with nothing but a handful of regrets. If I'm not the most reckless person in this room, then who is?"
Kwabena chimed in, "I am."
The rest of us responded once more, "Spit, brother, spit!"
Kwabena said, "My old man once told me, 'Time waits for no man.' I wish I had listened. There were so many things I could have done, but none I did. I thought I had all the time in the world and lied to myself, saying I'd burn the midnight candle at the last minute. But I was just dancing with danger. My fellows are so ahead of me in time now, I've got a mop, but they're sweeping. We've all been reckless, but I think I've been the most reckless.
So Yaw added
"Are we going to keep on lamenting on our recklessness or we are going dust off and saddle up.
We cannot let our mistakes define and defy us.
As long as we breathe, there's hope, and if there is a will, there's a way.
Let's be the architects of our success, a success so massive our mistakes will not be spoken of again."
"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Nelson Mandela (Regret can hold us back, but learning from mistakes helps us move forward)"
